I grew up in Hanham, just outside Bristol. My first job on leaving school was in life assurance, but I got involved in youth work in my early 20s through the Church and Boys' Brigade and this led me to train as a teacher at Westminster College in Oxford.
Julie and I were married just after we graduated in 1994 and I taught at Easton Primary School in Bristol until 2005. I then left to complete my Masters degree in Education, Technology and Society. I graduated with my MSC from Bristol University in 2007.
I was accredited as local preacher in 2008 and I candidated for the ministry in the same year. I trained at Wesley College in Bristol and was then stationed in the Weston Super Mare and Burnham on Sea Circuit as a probationer in 2009. In 2014 I joined the Gloucestershire Circuit, and in 2022 I joined the West Oxfordshire Circuit as Superintendent.
